Check out my recipe for making Ninja Creami Dole Whip! I’ll show you how to make the perfect Dole Whip using your Ninja Creami. The texture is AMAZING, and the flavor is pretty great too!

Dole Whip is VERY popular right now! You can find Dole Whip at huge amusem*nt parks, pineapple plantations, and now it’s even available as a soft serve mix and premade frozen treat online and at some grocery stores. You can make a very simple and delicious version in the Ninja Creami using just canned pineapple, but the texture isn’t quite the same as real Dole Whip. This recipe is for the real thing! The best part? You don’t have to wait in long lines to get this tasty treat!

While I’d like to say that I invented this Ninja Creami treat, I did not. In fact, the actual ingredients to make real Dole Whip are listed on Dole’s website. However, I modified the ingredients a bit and changed the process so that it can be made in the Ninja Creami! The results were fantastic! All of the ingredients are easy to find, in fact you probably already have these simple ingredients in your pantry!

Ninja Creami Dole Whip (3)

The original Dole Whip recipe does not involve freezing and then processing the ingredients. Instead, it uses frozen pineapple and a blender to create a quick recipe. For the Ninja Creami Dole Whip recipe, since you need to freeze the base recipe before processing, I used canned pineapple instead of frozen. You can use frozen pineapple and bananas if you would like, but be sure to thaw them before blending them with the other ingredients. Do not use the Ninja Creami as the blender.

Ninja Creami Dole Whip (4)

Since Ninja Creami Dole Whip is made with coconut milk, it’s actually dairy-free! You’d never know by tasting it. It’s super thick and creamy!

I was a bit surprised to see that the original Dole Whip recipe has banana as one of the ingredients. I’ve had Dole Whip several times, even at the Dole Plantation in Hawaii, and have no memory of it tasting like bananas. But, since that’s what the original recipe listed as an ingredient, I went with it and added a banana. The final product has a super thick and creamy texture thanks to the addition of the banana. There’s no pudding mix, cream cheese, gum, or any other thickener in the recipe. You can taste the banana in the ice cream but it goes really well with the pineapple and coconut flavors!

Ninja Creami Dole Whip (5)

Tips for making Ninja Creami Dole Whip:

What is Dole Whip?

Dole Whip is a creamy dessert made from pineapple, bananas, coconut milk, lime juice and sugar. It tastes like a light and refreshing tropical treat. Sometimes, it’s even served with pineapple chunks on top. The consistency is closer to soft-serve ice cream than it is to scoopable ice cream. Dole Whip is made with Dole branded fruit and is popular at Disney themed amusem*nt parks.

Can you taste the banana in Ninja Creami Dole Whip?

Yes, you can taste the banana in Ninja Creami Dole Whip. The pineapple and coconut milk in the recipe help balance out the banana really well.

Can you use frozen pineapples and bananas to make Dole Whip?

Yes, you can use frozen fruit to make Ninja Creami Dole Whip. However, you should thaw the frozen fruit so that it is soft enough to blend together with the other ingredients in the recipe.

Can you make Dole Whip in the Ninja Creami without freezing first?

Some people put frozen fruit along with the dairy and other ingredients into the Ninja Creami container and then process, without freezing the mixture first. I DO NOT recommend doing this. If you want to do that, then just use a blender. The Ninja Creami is not made to process hard frozen chunks (frozen fruit) that are suspended in liquid (dairy and other ingredient). Processing frozen fruit with liquid (without freezing the mixture first) can damage the machine and may void the warranty.

Are there other flavors of Dole Whip?

Yes, there are other flavors of Dole Whip. Dole actually has recipes for several other flavors that you might not have even considered, like chocolate and peppermint! You could easily modify the Ninja Creami Dole Whip to use different fruit like strawberries, raspberries, or mangos to make other varieties.

The full ingredient list is found at the bottom of the post in the recipe card.

Ninja Creami Dole Whip (10)

Pineapple– Canned pineapple in pineapple juice. You can use canned pineapple in syrup but the final product will be sweeter and the nutrition info will change. If you would like, you can use frozen pineapple but be sure to thaw it before blending it with the other ingredients.

Banana– Fresh or frozen bananas will work for this recipe.

Unsweetened Coconut Milk- Canned, unsweetened coconut milk was used. This can be found in the specialty or Asian food aisle in your grocery store. It is not the sweetened squirt bottle or coconut flavoring or refrigerated coconut milk.

Powdered SugarPowdered sugar was used for this recipe. You can use granulated sugar or a sugar substitute that is a 1:1 ratio.

Lime Juice- Fresh or bottled work the same for this recipe. If you don’t have lime juice, you can use lemon juice instead. I would not recommend substituting with an extract or flavor oil.

Directions for making Ninja Creami Dole Whip:

Make the Ice Cream Mixture

  1. Pour the pineapple, banana, powdered sugar, coconut milk, and lime juice into a small blender and blend until all ingredients are fully combined. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container.
  2. Freeze on a level surface for 24 hours. Your freezer should be between 9 and -7 degrees Fahrenheit. To avoid getting a bump on the top of the frozen mixture, freeze with the lid off of the container.

Ninja Creami Dole Whip (11)

Process the Ice Cream

  1. After 24 hours, remove the pint container from the freezer.
  2. Place the pint container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami and then process on “ICE CREAM.”
  3. Since Dole Whip is more of a soft serve consistency, you will need to add pineapple juice and re-spin. Pour a tablespoon of the reserved pineapple juice into the pint and re-spin. Repeat this process until it has reached the desired consistency- like soft-serve ice cream.
  4. Your ice cream is ready to eat! Enjoy!

The recipe Dole provides is actually a copycat recipe in itself! “Real” Dole Whip is made with a mix and water (no bananas involved). I wonder if there is a way to use the Creami with the real thing to come up with something that is close. I kind of think Dole’s own copycat recipe is probably better, since a proper soft-serve machine is likely the key to the real thing.

You can buy the Dole mix online. It’s just a powdered mix that you add liquid to. You can freeze that and process it in the Ninja Creami too. I was able to achieve the soft serve texture when I processed it. You just need to add more liquid and keep spinning.
