April 25th– Varsity Baseball vs Wheaton

  • Seniors will be honored prior to the game

April 26th– Boys Tennis vs Einstein

  • Seniors to be honored prior to the match

April 29th– Coed and Boys Volleyball vs Springbrook

  • Boys prior to their game
  • Coed prior to their game after the Boys game.

April 29th- Varsity Girls and Boys Lacrosse vs Watkins Mill

  • Girls Lacrosse will be honored prior to the Girls Game.
  • Boys Lacrosse will be honored after the Girls Game prior to the Boys game.

May 1st- Varsity Softball vs Wootton

  • Seniors will be honored prior to the game

The post season begins in a few short weeks for many of our teams. Please make sure to check out future weekly updated and social media for upcoming dates and locations.

Boys Volleyball will begin their playoff run on May 2nd. Opponent, time and location to be decided.

We are excited to announce that we will be recognizing our future Collegiate Athletes with our annual Signing ceremony. This will take place on May 22nd at Seneca Valley HS. The event will take place in the gymnasium at 11:30 pm

In order to be recognized, the student athlete must have a signed scholarship or a letter of intent to attend the college or university that they will be playing at.

We are asking that those student athletes complete thisgoogle formby Friday, May 10th in order to be included in the ceremony. Any names received after that date will risk not being able to participate.

Hot off the Press! The spring edition of The R.A.I.S.E. Report, a seasonal newsletter published by the MCPS Department of Athletics, that provides a brief overview of the many ways MCPS Athletics strives to “RAISE” the level of excellence across the entire program.

SENIORS PLEASE apply for The SVHS Booster scholarship! They are awarding 5 – $1,000 scholarships this year!!! It’s easy to apply!!! It’s for student athletes and students who participated in clubs during their senior year!!! Every little bit helps with continuing education and we want to get those applications in! They are due 4/25!!!

Please note these very IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • The online registration window for Fall sports will open in mid July. Please be on the lookout for communications via our website and social media.
  • The First day of Fall sports is August 14th.
    • This means summer ends on August 14th
    • Vacations need to be plannedprior to August 14th.
      • Being on vacation is not an excuse and students will be held accountable for missing
    • No excuses

    • Commitment needs to be there.
    • Specific schedule will be out in mid- to late July
  • MANDATORY FALL STUDENT ATHLETES MEETING- TUESDAY, AUGUST 20TH 1:00 PM- STADIUM/GYMNASIUM
    • All student athletes for fall sports must attend.

The Seneca Valley Athletic Department has the following Coaching Vacancies for the 2024-2025 Athletic Season

Baseball and Tennis- Operations
  • Please make sure to not park in the bus loop or bus area during games, where there is a chance of baseballs leaving the playing field
  • Please make sure to use the correct entrance

Softball-Operations

  • Please park in the back of the school and enter at the single gate near the batting cages

Volleyball, Lacrosse and Track Operations

  • Please use proper entrance
  • All stadium event spectators must enter through the main athletic entrance near the tennis courts
  • No oversize bags
  • No outside food or drink
  • All digital Sales
  • Sales close at halftime or middle of last event.

Reminder for all of our events, we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to disruptive fan behavior

PARKING AND DROP OFF AND PICK UP

  • All student athletes must enter their practices at the front parking lot and use the athletic stairs near the tennis courts to enter the building or stadium
    • DO NOT USE ANY OTHER ENTRANCE
  • this will be the drop off and pick up area for the entire year
    • Cafeteria doors will be locked as will the gates to the back of the stadium
  • Softball is the only team to be picked up on the cafeteria side by softball field

SUPERVISION

  • Student athletes are expected to be reasonably supervised at all times
  • PLease arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to practice and please be prepared for pick up or departure from campus 10 minutes after practice
  • Student athletes are at no time permitted to be in the building unsupervised
  • Failure to pick up your student athletes in a timely fashion may lead to their removal from the team.

PRACTICES

  • We ask that our practices are not attended by parents/guardians or fans
    • if you would like to request the opportunity to stay for practice, please contact the coach and athletic director first to discuss protocol
  • Parent/guardians cannot wait in the building while practices are going on for safety and security purposes
  • Parent/guardians are not permitted on the playing surface at anytime for safety and security reasons

COMMUNICATION:

  • We have a 24 hour policy for addressing coaches if you have a concern. Please do not attempt to confront a coach after a practice or event.
    • Reminder that we do not discuss playing time

    • Must have a valid physical on file (they now last 13 months)
    • Must bring a completed medical card to workouts to give to coach

PARKING AND ENTRANCES

At Seneca valley HS, all coaches, fans and officials visiting Seneca Valley High School for a sporting event, will need to use the main parking lot near the tennis courts and follow the stairs down to the gym or stadium entrance

Only on rare occasions will the back gates be open for spectators.

MEDIA PASSES:

Last spring, MCPS began requiring media passes for anyone wishing to have field access to an athletic event. At Seneca Valley High School we will only allow media staff with an official MCPS badge to gain access. Anyone with a pass, will need to reach out to the athletic office in advance to discuss school specific protocol. Please see below for more specific information.

Media credentialing ensures a safe environment for members of the press covering MCPS athletic events and are essential for easy identification and knowing who may be in our athletic facilities.Protocolsgoverning media coverage of MCPS athletic events went into effect on April 1, 2023.

Who Needs to Present Athletic Event Media Credentials
All media, multimedia, journalists, reporters, bloggers, vloggers, social media channels, athletic promoters or individuals, or companies seeking access to an MCPS event for the purposes of recording, photography, videography, reporting, etc., must have applied for and received an official MCPS Athletic Event Credential. Each individual must present (and wear) this badge and lanyard while working at an MCPS athletic event.

Notification of Intent to Cover an Event
Credentialed individuals must also inform high school athletics specialists of their intention to attend an event by email. Email contacts for local school athletics specialists can be foundhere.

Please note that this includes students as well.
